So far I have made 2 muslins for Advance 1223 twice and have made many alterations.  The last version was almost wearable but I have decided to remove the little pleats in the midriff portion as they create bagging that is unflattering.
this pattern must have originally made for a woman of amazonian proportions.  I happen to be in the modern clothing a bit too big for a fitted extra large I am too small for a plus size.  I am interested to find a similar lack of fitting and excess material in odd places in a vintage plus size pattern. the skirt was made for a woman with lots of junk in the trunk and was more of an aline rather than a straight skirt with some flair at the bottom.  the shoulders were huge thats not surprising give the timeframe.  the bust was a bit too small and hugely too small if you want there to be any draping and ease.  Neckline is too high that is not like modern plus size.  this garment came right down to the floor on me and I am an average height woman.  in order for it to look like the illustration the woman it was originally intended for must have been arround 6 feet tall!   My goal is to try my alterations one last time and in my next post put up a picture.
