I don't use up much space on friends pages. Mostly becuase things have been quiet on the costuming front. Lots of trips to the dentist and the healing allergies excema that goes along with it just does not merit its own post. I am almost finished my first non bethan corset based on the one shown on the cover of Jill Salens book Corsets. I love my mid 16th century florentine gowns but the corset does not make me look HHHHHHOttttttt like this 1865 one does. Its probably the first time in my life that i have thought of myself in those terms so im not being vain by anouncing it on the internet. Hopefully I will get it finished before friday so I can wear it for my Birthday. with jeans it shoudnt be too dressy for the art gallery. I now know why there are separating busks the miles of leftover cord with no place to go attests to that.
I have a burning question about that corset that I will repost with pictures once the lining and top seam is done. should the corset center front touch at the breastbone in order to fit properly? from what I have been reading about corsets from that decade it may be too long for me. but then its an anomally in other ways too for its decade.
Ive done a bit of mundane sewwing. last week I managed to take a pattern from a freinds favorite pair of dress pants without ruining them: she was chuffed. I also helped a freind sew for the first time since highschool she is mighty pleased with herself too, i am waiting to see what she can do when im not leaning over her shoulder every second.
So all more posts later with pictures hopefully.
