moddish things, questions

Apparently I am Albus Dumbledore; this probably should serve as some kind of warning, but I am mostly very amused.

I haven't heard back from eleven people about deeply_horrible since they signed up for the fest or asked for an extension in October, which I am told is perfectly normal, but makes me wonder whether my e-mails are landing in spam folders or not ( Read more... )

Hah! I got Minerva, which is hilarious. Don't you go twinkling at me, young lady. :P

I am behind, as usual on my commenting and reading (as in in a completely unsurprising turn of events, I was just telling cabepfir), but certainly I am making an effort to comment on those that have either a lower comment count, or at least on every one of them. Admittedly, I think I am beginning to fall into my marking commenting style (Although without the constructive criticism!) and keep putting it off because of this. No one wants to feel like they are being graded. Plus you always manage to say what I want to in your comments and so, because I am an idiot and don't want to repeat, I have to go off and create different things to say. I totally over think commenting, it is true.

In general though, for this time of year? Wow. The commenting is not only consistent but of a pretty comprehensive quality (i. e. more than just 'ayyayayayay!' and sometimes a graet deal more than that). Given that the number of fests on is ridiculous and we are about a week out from Christmas so that offline life is howling at most people's doors... gyah. Don't worry too much. Even with individual taste and some people's preference to just catch up at reveals.. this is good!

Fie. Send them an ultimatum and if you don't hear back, then they are out. You can only do so much and shouldn't have to rely on people who are being entirely passive aggressive in their avoidance. It is not like you have been unclear or anything.

I haz no skills to create banners, apart from drawing stuff. If someone else can do the coding and whatever, then I can always 'draw shit.' As for feedback challenge - hah! It may result in the purplest of prose, even if prizes would be fun.

MINERVA! This test is amazing. Minerva really does work. Who is her polar opposite? (Dumbledore's is, of all people, Cissy Malfoy.)

Thank you for being a voice of reason and helping me calm my irrational projective fears. Also, you are absolutely not under any obligation to comment on, let alone read everything. Dearest! You have been an absolute gift to the fest. I cannot believe my luck that I have such excellent friends.

I know what you mean about putting off commenting for style or argumentative reasons. Overthinking, it's my favourite pastime! No, sadly enough, I am unhappy with every single comment I've left so far. Am hoping that break from school will improve this malady -- hence my putting off commenting on many entries of late. ALSO I cannot believe you when you say that I say everything you want to say; in fact, from my perspective it's quite the other way around!

You're right about the quality of the comments. I hadn't noticed, because I overlook the beautiful when I am too close to a project. *smacks self* But you're right, you're absolutely right! and this knowledge cheers me more than I can say.

I haz no skills to create banners, apart from drawing stuff. If someone else can do the coding and whatever, then I can always 'draw shit.'

THIS IS THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING I HAVE EVER HEARD YOU SAY. You have never even come close to 'drawing shit', not unless 'shit' is a particularly strong way of expressing the overcome emotion and speechlessness and glee one feels when lucky enough to see a new piece of yours.

We should talk about this. I would of course be gleeful to be able to commission more from you, but only if it doesn't interfere with your other fest obligations and uni and family. Promise! Also, remind me when we have sk? I completely fail at life right now, and cannot remember anything.

As for feedback challenge - hah! It may result in the purplest of prose, even if prizes would be fun.

Good! *wicked grin*

Really? Cissy Malfoy? I would not have picked that. Perhaps Mrs Weasley would be more of an absolute opposite for Dumbledore. For Minerva it is Peter Pettigrew! Yerk.

Hah! Most people tend to react to me being the voice of reason with a, 'could you please stop pointing out the blindingly logical step when I am trying to be irrational.' Still, it is true. Although there is some variation in the numbers of comments (mostly on the longer stories though, they do take some time to get through), well, compared to some of the big fests going on currently you are still well up there on numbers as an aggregate. I just checked. Considering they have a much larger readership as well, I would be quietly pleased myself.

Apparently I feel like I have to write some sort of genius review in 200 words or more, every time and as such have a note book of meta that I write down when reading. Usually if it is something I really enjoy I will come back three times later with a comment.. but yes. Well. That and I feel the urge to hand out comments that run with 'you have a good grasp of the underlying tropes that ... but perhaps you could smooth the transition to the finish..' Grading leaves marks! :P

Well from this view, I want to say what you say and then end up going back and re reading the story to find something else to say, before making sure that no one else has posted a comment that will double up the feedback. Wow. That may have given you too much of an insight into what I was like at school. Also, the urge to give feedback on feedback is probably not right. :P

Eh. I have study, but even I need a break from study sometimes. That and christmas for me is very quiet as my dad is working. So I go back to the parentals and enjoy the peace, which means I can have a break from beating myself over the head with the doctorate.

I do believe sk was set at 'when you have had some sleep and are less incoherent we can set a time.' So, it is waiting to be set.

I will torture the metaphors!
