The dark and the different

I have found radiance in this defiance
defying the unfolding of creation
forsaking the Light

I have not lost my heart
instead it burns brightly
embers of a verdant flame

When our kind first awoke to the vision of the stars there existed eternal night. For a time in this eternal place these elves wove magic and nurtured life...a nature that has always been a part of us. When the day was born and the sky was graced with warm light a new race was born. We were different for we had lost the Light given gift of the stars and instead of enjoying the night we craved the light of the newborn sun. Without the source of the elven-kind we had lost the ability to renew our own energies, always hungered by a constant need for life-force. We could absorb the energies of creation as our starlit kindred could but we were unable to assimilate it into our own life-force. We needed the energies of other living beings to transmute the raw elements into energies we could use. So this cycle began, the cycle of feeding, the legacy of the sun-born, the nature of the vampiric elf.
