I'm still fiddling with the hoop skirt for my Padme gown, but I was able to squeeze my dummy into the corset, so I went ahead and drafted the pattern and made a full muslin. I'm pretty happy with it, I have to baste on a zipper and shove myself into the corset to try it on me to make sure it actually fits when I wear it.
I made a bit of a placket on the front seams to put the eyelets the coat will hook into. The hem and armscye's aren't finished.
I've also been thinking about the shawl fabric. It's the last thing I do so I'll keep looking, but I think in the end I'll have to dye and embroider my own fabric. I know that this evil fabric is super shiny (so much so that it's nearly impossible to take clear pictures of). I had this fabric in my stash that I ordered by accident once. It's a rayon-faced silk satin and it's REALLY shiny (plus I can cross-dye it if I need to.) I read through TheForce.net thread on this, someone touched it and said it's stiff. I doubt there's a such thing as a super-shiny taffeta, but I could probably starch the shiny satin. Just a thought. Here's a pic of it next to some regular silk satin.
