The only thing these floppy drives don't do is dance.
Apparently the read head has a stepper motor which makes a pulse of sound, short enough that it can be arranged to move at hundreds of times a second, resulting in musical tones.
(In a similar post on Facebook I almost referred to this contraption as a "floppy disk organ", but yanked the phrase back due to extra meanings.)
Leaving for the airport in 11 1/2 hours.
