Earlier this week, as I was walking to school in the slightly chill (but not yet snowy) air, feeling moderately miserable because of my head cold, I was walking by two men with leaf blowers working on a lawn in front of one of the other apartment buildings on my street. One man had his leaf blower on, and was going at it, while the other was watching his compatriot, and then me as I was walking toward him. He was about 40, 6', Caucasian, short red/brown beard, and wore a hat and brown jacket.
As I approached him, he said to me:
"Smile when you walk to school!"
He seemed to be about to say more, but I cut him off with:
"I would if I felt better!"
And I smiled back at him.
But he made me realize that I had not been smiling, and he really woke me up. And completely made my day 100% better. I'm really glad he did.
