I know I haven’t been great at updating this thing, so here’s an overall “here’s where things are” post to bring everyone up to speed.
All in all, things are going very well. I’m happier then I’ve been in a long time, and while there are some regrets, they’re mostly about losing touch with people that is just as much my fault as theirs.
Siobhan and I have been together for over seven months now, which makes this my longest relationship ever. I love her and she loves me, and it’s a nice feeling to actually believe her when she says that, unlike previous relationships.
Work is going fairly well, I’m growing more comfortable in my promotion and earning more respect. It’s not a perfect job, scheduling classes, but it’s one I’m well-suited too. Fine-detail work and no contact with the student body? Yes, please.
I’ll be moving into a new apartment at the end of May. I’ll be in #12 with
joggiwagga,
cowboy_of_doom, and Dustin. I’m a little nervous, but that’s because change is sometimes hard for me to accept. I’ll be fine once things get settled. I’ll miss GH3, I really will, but more space, another bathroom, and not in a basement apartment with a brothel upstairs is worth the extra money. It’ll just be strange not living with
verdelite and
satyrwilder.
I have Samantha, my Camaro, back on the road, all nice and legal again. She’s still pretty beat up, but she runs well, and I’m going to be saving money for restoration. Lenore is still on the road as well, but I need to get body work done for her to stay on the road. I’ve got almost all the money I need for her, so hopefully in another month I can schedule an appointment at 1812.
My Monday L5R game is going along well, despite some recent scheduling issues. They’re nearing the end of the War Against the Shadow arc, and I hope to be starting Spirit Wars by the holidays.
Tuesday’s Werewolf game has been marred a bit by some personality conflicts recently, but I’m hopeful we can turn that around. More and more I really like the new Werewolf and the updated Storytelling System rules. We’re still more or less in the opening story and getting the feel of the new system and rules, despite the fact we’ve been at it for almost a year. Time crawls when you’re having fun.
The bi-weekly Thursday L5R game I play in is on hiatus to prevent GM burnout, and we generated Lunar Exalts for a hiatus game run by
coureton in the meantime. Hopefully, that’ll help me get the hang of Exalted 2nd Edition. Three to four Lunars and our very own pet Sidereal…
The bi-weekly Friday L5R game I play in is going well, although I don’t think it’s going for much longer. The bi-weekly Friday Trinity game I run opposite L5R is having its last game tonight, and it’ll be hard, but necessary. The story has come to an end, and we’ll do a short nWoD Mortals game as a break, and then I’ll run another, different Trinity game. I’m thinking an Earth-based game set in Venezuela, which allows me to play with 22nd Century Sudamérica, Norça, underwater habitats, the Quarantine Zone, and Aberrants.
The bi-weekly Saturday L5R game is going well indeed. We’re up to six players and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. They continue to hold the line against the Shadowlands at the southern-most tip of Rokugan, and still the passion-plays and samurai drama abound. This is really the first “location-based” game I’ve run, and so far it’s gone exceptionally well. The region itself is a character in the drama, and I think I’ll use this model in the Spirit Wars Monday game.
My biggest regret with the gaming is the lack of Technocracy. Time and conflicting schedules and holidays and LARPs pretty much ate the past several months. Hopefully once LARP season is over we can go back to it, even if it’s once a month, especially since three out of the five players are now located in the Boston area.
Today has been an odd day, once of self-reflection and slight melancholy for people who have drifted out of my life. However, I’m not sad or upset; I’m actually feeling pretty content. I’m hoping that contentment lasts a good long while. With the warmer weather, I think a little more outdoor activity is warranted. This weekend I might try to get to Glendale Falls with Siobhan on Sunday, we’ll see how it goes.
Blessed Be, all. Hope everyone else is doing well.
