I wonder who reads this.

So, for all those who happen to stumble upon this, I need your halps.

I've been experimenting with lotions and potions for the last couple of days. After the whole soap thing became a bit of a disaster, I've decided to start with what I know the best, which are body scrubs (as I've been making them for myself for a long time). Hence, the lotions ( ( Read more... )

I don't often use lotions because they tend to take time to sink in, and also because I don't need a lot of lotion, my skin is generally pretty healthy. I use moisturizer on my hands a lot, and right now I'm weaving between Rocky Mountain Soap Company's hand butter - which is quite oily but sinks in really quickly for me with some good rubbing, and I tend to give my hands a good rubbing because of my neuropathy, (and I have a bunch of their butters from when I worked there) - and The Body Shop's Satsuma body butter, which is.. well, Body Shop, most people have tried their stuff. Nice, super strong fragrance which is kinda iffy (but dang it I've loved Satsuma since I was like 12 or something), but it also goes in pretty quick.

I think now, working with jewelry a lot of the time, I need something that sinks in and doesn't leave me oily/greasy/etc, but that can really moisturize my hands. Calgary sucks for having nice hands in the winter lol.

As far as fragrances go, I would definitely be interested in a place that has scents I love as well as a fantastic awesome unscented version - because most moisturizers/lotions/whatever tend to keep the scent around, and as much as I love some scents (like Villainess soaps) I love my BPAL and don't always want to smell just like my hand lotion. So I guess I like the option of lotions that I WILL smell like and lotions that won't play havoc with the perfume I've decided to wear.

Also, in case of soap, I love strong-smelling stuff that doesn't stick around much after the shower. Again cos I don't want it to interfere with my scent of the day. I love Villainess for this reason, cos their soap really don't stick around on me. :)

As far as price.. I'm willing to spend money on a good product, but not a TON. $5 for a soap is just dandy for me, if it's a good soap. Between $10-$20 for a good lotion/moisturizer/butter, again if it's *good*. They're usually my caps. Of course it depends on size, as well, right? Bigger (as long as they won't go bad) are generally worth more. And of course, I'll pay more if I really want them.

And, you should make lip butters/lip gloss/whatever. As a comparison, I find most random natural lip butters to be a little too beeswax-y. Rocky Mountain has some decent ones. This shop in Colorado (I can look for it when it's not so early) has some nice smooth ones. And there's an etsy shop, daisycakessoap, has very smooth ones that I really really like. I think some people might find them a little too slick but I love that type.

Sorry, 12-hour day + little sleep = rambly me!

Have you tried jojoba oil? Probably have. I found, for me (again my skin is awesome) that when I was doing OCM, I used jojoba oil, apricot kernel oil and a bit of olive oil for thickness and the jojoba was like "I LOVE YOU SKIN!" and my skin was like "I LOVE YOU TOO!" - apparently jojoba is really close to our skin's natural oils. Snifty.

Okay, enough rambing. Sorry. XD

I like the sound of Phi Laboratories better, but I like the word Alchemy. Lab always conjures up a more science-y image for me, while Alchemy is more witchy/natural so I like it better. ;)
