What is with people at church telling me I should be a canter? Our canters aren't that bad, though the one we had today had a bit of a bad day. I get the feeling she wasn't actually supposed to do it today, so had not had the opportunity to practice, and got stuck on two songs that she hadn't heard any more than the rest of us. We had the first actual snow last night; less than an inch, but it hadn't supposed to accumulate at all, so nobody was prepared. It was just enough to make things ugly if you weren't careful, and a lot of people just chose to stay home.
No Christmas choir for me again this year, either. I've had a cough since October, and other cold symptoms have been on/off for the past three weeks. I don't have any sick time until next month, so seeing if I can get a new allergy prescript (odds are, the symptoms are caused by my wretched dust/mold/pollen allergies having become immunized to the meds I've been on for four years) will need to wait until then. Today, it was mainly my nose being rebellious; as the cough was fairly quiet, I could participate in the hymns. Other than singing along with the radio in the car, church is the only time I generally sing.
Every year I intend to participate in Christmas choir, and something messes it up. Only remember the past three years; this year it's the cough that makes my voice unreliable. Last year I missed the first practice and it specified all over every announcement that all practices were mandatory. And the year before that I got a major nerve attack and instead stayed home instead of sticking my neck out.
Maybe next year.
Also got some of the decorations up outside. Our fading Santa and his deer are set up, along with some of the lights on the tree we decorate out there. Have to put more lights on the tree, and set up the little deer we got to go with them. Plus there's the frog and two penguins that go on our front steps, not to mention the timer. About half of the work is done, I suppose! It was bitter cold, though (in the teens with a fitful wind and random bits of sleet all day) so I spent much of the day asthmatic from the trips outside. Looking forward to a good night's sleep.
