For those of you that don't already know, yes I am running a forum for discussion of motions to be put forward for vote at the coming Pagan Network AGM, yes it is private, no I will not be opening it to the majority of Full Members, yes it's democratic so all motions agreed that we're going to submit have been decided by a majority vote, no, we're ( Read more... )

The point of having it closed to a small number of people (currently 20 exactly) is that if too many people get involved, there is less chance of us agreeing to put them through. The fact we have this forum for this purpose doesn't mean that no-one else can set up something similar, or submit motions of their own.

If we had it open to all of the full members, then we may as well not have the AGM, as we'd already know which ones would go through or not.

Remember, this is only agreeing on the wording and whether or not to submit motions as a group. We're not saying that no-one else can do this, we're not excluding anyone from the AGM, we're not saying only our motions count, we're just increasing the chance they they will actually be passed by deciding which ones are submitted, and deciding on the wording as a committee, as it were.

No, I'm not going to tell you who's involved. If they want to make it known, then I'm sure they will.

There is logic behind it, and it is not to do with having an "elite" group of Full Members, or excluding people we don't like or get on with (hell, if that was true, we'd only have 12 members of it... :P).

All the motions will be beneficial, they well all make sense, and they'll all be clearly defined. This is the aim of deciding on them as a committee rather than having everyone submit them in pairs and have the wording ambiguous, and increasing the chance of motions conflicting with each other. :)

Your logic is flawed. Your opinion on the motions being beneficial - beneficial to who? It's like the American Eugenics movement, which said that all their ideas were for the 'benefit' of the United States and its people. Sorry but I'm always wary of groups that aren't open apart from a single vague mission statement.

And I don't want to know who's involved. Frankly I couldn't give a damn, and as it stands I don't want anything to do with any of it at all; it's all being turned into a playgroud farce by many.
