H50 ep 3.20: I'm out.

Apr 16, 2013 12:45

This won't be a great surprise to most, but for now, I'm done with this show. I don't know if I'll come back to it or not, whether I'll watch the end of the season some other time, but for now, I have to quit watching something that is just making me unhappy ( Read more... )

I have no idea what happened insult-wise, but this makes me sad. I still find lots to love with the show (despite the increasing need to work around the suddenly fated Steve/Cath - I mean, what is that even?) and I wish you did too, but I've fallen out of love with shows before and I know how it goes. :(

There was some disturbing BTS twitter bullshit involving Borth and later Lenkov. Definitely felt insulted and unloved by that simply for daring to voice an opinion, and very unwelcome.

Stupidly, I like Steve too much. If it were Danny who had a fated love that came out of nowhere, I could deal with it much better than it being Steve. I can't stand that every other ep has to have her draped all over him like a fated love (good choice of words, and bizarrely, until three months ago, they weren't like that at all. WTF.) Without her, I'd be back.

Hah, I'm the opposite. The whole Rachel thing nearly did me in, and only didn't because I'd only just fallen for the show.

Yeah, see, and I didn't have a problem with that. I guess it's who you like best.

I do feel your pain. My first fandom experienced a rapid shift from being teamy goodness to us suddenly finding out that for four-five years, the Leading Man and Leading Woman had secretly had feeeeelings for each other (which they couldn't act on because 1) military and 2)leader/subordinate), and the remainder of the series was littered with reminders to the audience that these two were Destined To Be No Matter What. Which, no. Not interested. I watched until it was super apparent I was never going to have the teamy goodness again.

Ugh! Please don't bring up SG-1 with Sam and her sudden Doe Eyes of Death. I can't even...

Sorry, I didn't mean to jump in and go all off topic. :)

I still wince at the idea of sex scenes.

"Oh, SIR, right there!"

Without proper context like roleplaying or BDSM or what have you, that's just awkward.

I actually never minded the Steve/Cath relationship UNTIL the actress herself and her followers began to publicly attack and put down the Steve/Danno shippers. Honestly, I was stunned and floored to see a paid actress attack and even accuse fans of doing bad things with nothing to show that the fan was the one who did it.

She elevated a group of fans by following them and she blocked any fan that disagreed with her or her character. I have never seen any actor do that.
But when the EP joined in and told fans that if a show stresses them out they should just leave the show, and all because they had a preference they were voicing, that did it for me.

The lack of professionalism was appalling. I thought the bromance was a big thing for H50? They just won a TV Guide fan contest for it and the EP has made it a promotion point for 3 years. Now,suddenly, those fans need to shut up and get out of Dodge? Seriously?

OK. I got my marching orders. I am out.

I have to agree. I have actually loved her in other things but didn't like the writing for her as Cath. But since all this bullying I can't stand it anymore. Can't believe she is allowed to carry on like this. Who does PL think this show is for if not the fans?? Love AOL and Scott but really turned off Michelle now. Such a shame.
