So, I gathered a handful of new LJ friends over the last few months, and I realised that they don't know much of anything about me. Plus, I haven't posted anything in a while, and I should rectify that!
Here we go.
I'm Vera, 29, work in retail, and I'm autistic. I didn't know that until last year, when a long, long history of physical complaints and mental health issues and waiting lists and doctors and psychologists finally culminated in a diagnostic report of 14 pages and a definite conclusion: Asperger's. Most people don't notice it about me, but it's responsible for a bunch of other issues, among them chronic RSI in my hands and shoulders, insomnia, eating difficulties, and an anxiety disorder. These are all things I manage, but it makes my life a little harder than other people's sometimes. Therefore, you will sometimes here me talk about being out of spoons.
Currently, I'm just on the tail end of battling a two week long anxiety disorder resurgence, so you know, fun times! I can cope with this, I've done it before, but it's never fun. On the upside of being autistic, though, is that I have a faster than average ability to process factual information and am a killer analyst of data.
I'm in the process of studying for a test at work, and following that test I will need to study some more for a more formal training course that will hopefully culminate in me getting a drugstore licence. Yeah, there is no real equivalent out there in the English speaking world, but it basically means learning lots about OTC drugs so I can advise people who buy them about what's safe to take and what isn't. This will keep me busy for this year, trust me.
I'm normally also a writer of fanfiction, but I've been afflicted with writer's block for a while now, so it isn't happening at the moment. However, master list is at the top of the page, so you can find what I wrote in the past if you're interested in reading anything. I also beta.
Lastly, social media! I am
on twitter,
on tumblr,
on goodreads, and I hold accounts (that I don't use except for reading)
on wordpress,
on Dreamwidth, and
on the AO3. LiveJournal is and remains my home, though, and all texts, news, updates, etc. will be published here, with the exception of twitter, where I tweet feminist links, yell randomly, or talk about what I eat.
Questions, commentary, etc., this is a free for all. Hit me!
