H50 ep 3.10: *FLAIL*

Dec 11, 2012 12:14

Steve McGarrett and little kids. Really, I don't need anything else, because he gets that look and I melt into a puddle and then, really, I can't be expected to say something sensible. So I apologise if I make no sense.

I spent most of the ep flailing over Steve's face, from the look he had when Danny was shot (horrified anger) to the crazy eyed rage when he turned the tables on their kidnapper to the way he looked when he tried to convince Lucy to hide. He was kind of perfect. I also loved that he didn't just save the day; things went wrong and in the end they reenacted North Korea for a bit there.

I loved the girls wanting to learn how to throw a knife much more than they wanted to know useful skills (me at that age *nods*) and I loved the Aloha girls scout leader. I loved Gracie and the way she wants to be brave like Danny. (I can sort of see Danny's horror at that underneath his surefire knowledge that he'll disappoint her. Poor thing.)

Michael Noshimuri is just plain creepy. But like all Noshimuris, he lends spice to the story and I enjoyed his creeping around precisely because it was so obvious. Yeah, I'm contrary like that. I also enjoyed our bungling kidnapper, though I could have done without the comedic elements because they broke the tension a bit too much. The story was nice and complex, the direction was... average, but Steve, well, I just enjoyed flailing as Alex O'Loughlin knocked this one out of the park. Can we make 'Steve saves a little kid' eps mandatory every year? Please?

aloha means a million things, pink fluffy squee!!!, box of light and colours, me and my opinions
