I saw this when it hit and thought it was really smart of him to just dig and deal with it and fantastic that the show and the network are being so supportive. Nice to hear that the fans are as well.
I can't imagine anyone in this fandom being anything BUT supportive.
I really feel for Alex and always thought he pushed himself too hard---good for him for realizing he needed to take a step back and deal with this head-on.
I had been noticing he was getting thin lately, knew he had the injury and was thinking he should take a step back, but this I did not expect. (If anyone, I always expected it to be Scott, you know?) But he takes his responsibility and makes the choice to deal with this, and I applaud him for that.
It's his shoulder, yes. All I knew was that he had injured his shoulder and injured his bicep in the same arm -- it was in the last Men's Fitness article, I think. But other people in fandom mentioned it might be a re-injury or continuation of an injury he apparently got shootin 1.24, that I didn't know about. I think the latest injury was about November/December, but I don't know much for sure.
