Okay, so I'm saying a belated yes to the
Snowflake Challenge.
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.
Let's see. Why don't I do one of each? So...
A favourite fanwork I've created:
I Only Come Home (Merlin, Arthur/Merlin, R, 11,380 words.) It's far from perfect, but this was me pouring my experiences into fic to try and process and understand them, and midway through realised that I owed the story more than that, thus doubling it in length but keeping it true to itself, and I'm always very proud of that.
A fanwork I feel no one too few people ever saw:
Trapped (in her American circumstance) (Hawaii Five-0, Mary & Steve, R, 2,005 words) I get that both the subject matter/warnings and the fact that it's gen means it pulls in very few readers, and yet. For me, this was a watershed fic, to create and try to sell a story like this, also, rather than just stick to slash and the relative ease of emotion-based romance plot. It felt both right and necessary to tell this story.
A fanwork I would say defines me as a creator:
The Education of Ianto Jones (Torchwood, Jack/Ianto, R, 3,416 words) Though I no longer get regular comments on this one, it's still one of those fics that I yearn to write in every fandom, trying to infuse issues and real life into the stories we tell as transformative authors. If that sounds too political, I'll accept that, but I do believe that art can change perception, and I believe that transformative work critiques more than other types of art, sometimes.
