The news that has had me compulsively checking my email, six, sometimes eight times a day came!
In short: The biggest opportunity I have ever wanted, being picked as one of the five OCAD students to work for a real client and with the cream of the crop from another university. Vividly real/scary/thrilling.
Hi there- well, time has come. No, this is not Canadian idol, but kinda feels close, doesn?t it? You and 4 of your peers have been selected for the McMaster project. Congratulations to all of you.
This will be, as expressed, a rigorous project for all of us, the collaboration of two graduate institutions, and my belief and investment in you.
Your peers are all 4th commerce students, to which a team leader has been designated. I ask you to speak amongst yourselves and
come to a team leader decision and report to me via email no later than Monday by noon with that name. We need to get the ball rolling on this.
Your MacMaster counterparts are all proficient in the workings of marketing, sales, project management and other general business practices.
There is not a briefing document to date, but I will provide some background to all of you that I know. Here is some basic info to the assignment:
This is for a homeless shelter called Evangel hall.
Evangel Hall is a facility located on Queen Street West near Bathurst. It provides much needed services for the less fortunate of Toronto, such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Drug Abuse Assistance, Mental Care, Basic life skill training, money management and much more. Up until recently Evangel hall had been just a day facility. They simply did not have the facilities to house people overnight. This was changed when the funds were raised to build an attached residence. People are now able to stay overnight. More money is needed, however, to pay for the construction and continuing operations.
The mandate is to design a marketing/advertising/fund raising campaign to obtain these funds. The Hall itself is a 24 million dollar project. There is still approx. 6- 8 million dollars to raise. Your targets have to be ascertained,but the belief is that are both corporate and private donation sectors. There is a soft date of Feb. 2 to pencil in. At this time, In the evening there will be an event in Toronto at Evangel Hall, to which your
counterparts from MAC will attend.
This project will involve all of you in many different aspects. Some of which I have placed some of you already. Some which will be different. My role will be to provideguidance, but allow you and your cohorts practical involvement.
As OCAD undergrads, pls. recognize this opportunity. This, while a project out of class, is also an experience, and one with a tangible benefit at the end. This is not made up.
First order of business, team leader.
