Dragon*Con 2011 Wrap Up

Sep 07, 2011 05:39

Three shorts from Sylvester McCoy's final panel at Dragon*Con this year.

If you ever get to meet the man, DO SO. Seriously! He's so unbelievably awesome and funny. I hearts the man dearly. And yes, those were taken by me. I finally got to catch one of his panels and now I'm smacking myself for not seeing any sooner. I would recommend watching everything on YT if you can find it. And those who like Peter Jackson will be thrilled at his latest job. Without naming names, of course. And I loved getting his autograph.

OTHER POINTS
- The cast of True Blood continue to amaze me. They are so damn gracious and sweet. Jim Parrack is so sweet, and he even shakes your hand after you talk, which shocked me. Joe Mwhoneedsashortername is so adorable and growly. *swoon* And he's 6'5, kids. My favorite: over 6 feet. The man is too yummy to not love. (He always walks the wolf who plays him, Thunder, off-season.) And Kristen. Oh my. She's insanely dear and loves her cast, as it shows. They all do really. And finally Denis O'Hare? So damn well-spoken.

- Eureka and WH13 casts? Epically cool. Like, epically. Eddie McClintock and his Cialis plugs (a story to go with that and I bet it's on YT) while the writer Derek Hughes, I believe was the last name, was so cute and excited to appear. Then you get Kate Mulgrew on the cast and hello, HILARIOUS. Colin Ferguson and Eddie must be friendly off-set because they act like a bunch of boys that grew up together. Jordan Hinson was great, so enthusiastic. And Chris whosenameIcantspell seemed to be bouncing off walls.

- Eliza Dushku showed up! SHE DID, bitches! Yes, yes she did. And she's so very...whatever character she's playing at the time. She's a sweetheart. Julie Benz is just...like adorable beyond words. Seriously, lemme take her and put her in my pocket. And Nick Brendon has a very potty mouth. Oddly enough.

- Other notable meets: Carrie Fisher. I, of course, didn't say anything about Star Wars since I'm not a big fan, you know. *ducks all flying objects* But I did compliment her on the crazy family life of elderly parents. She was really nice. I met Tom Felton the elevator and the poor guy looked scared out of his mind when someone shoved a camera in his face for a pic. No, I mean that, literally. (Pro-tip guys: Don't shove a camera in his face, insert your face, and get all "MY WIFE LOVES YOU" when the poor guy is just trying to get some damn food. Okay? OKAY? Why, why do I have to repeat this?) I wanted to hug him. I just walked by as I exited and told him to have a good weekend. Cause I'm not a crazy bitch. I take my meds, damn it.

Overall, I had a lot of fun. It was great going to the various fan panels. I'm in love with the YA Lit track. For seriously. I learned of some author named Jackson Pearce and I'm like marathoning her books. I'm on two of three that are in print. The fourth will be out next year. And thank you Desi for letting me come and crash with you for a couple hours. Falling off the bed? So not planned. But hilarious since I haven't done that in many years. Also, say hi to burningchaos, aka she who takes care of my fearsome twosome. (I swear, LJ social circles are endless Venn Diagrams.)

I'll be going back next year, but not staying at the Hilton. Ever again. There was a lot of good...but more bad. Very bad, really. I have to talk to the Food and Beverage Director over it this week. Oh, yes. Piss me off and I write strongly worded replies when asked for my opinion.

And now back to school.

BUT FIRST, I KNOW IT'S A COUPLE HOURS LATE BUT WELL, SCHOOL. HOWEVER:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ninepointfivemm!!!!
