So, how the hell does a person get a job when they a) hate people, b) only likes animals, c) can't work in a kennel just yet, but has no receptionist experience, and d) would be a terrible waitress/sales clerk/fast food work? I mean, I have like no experience really. And I'm not a morning person; as in I don't function properly until about noon, ( Read more... )

Physically I can't do the stock work. Daddy works in a box plant and I know I couldn't handle that. Woefully out of shape, I'm afraid. Hence the need for my trainer. Stockroom is just as physically draining. And I'm concerned about my sugar, too. If I do something like that for long amounts of time, my sugars drop sharply, like to the 30s. My last attempt at the kennel, I was the jack of all trades other than vetting, and it was very exerting. Because of it, I noticed my whiter than normal skin and low 30s.

I actually applied for a job as a maid last night. Let's hope I get it. I mean 20-25 hours is ideal, since I'd just need the money for living expenses, not rent or school. And to show I can keep a job. I want to move out in middle of the semester, when the college kids have their apartments for the year, so a lower price will be available. (Atlanta's market is truly horrible, even the new condos are renting out their places as apartments now.) If I wait until I get my credit scores up, I might just buy a cheap condo to live in, since it'd be cheaper than renting. (Cheap being 90k or less.)

I'm 1 as well. I'm on Lantus and Humalog. Due to my, ahem, weight, I'm on a higher dosage. It tends to sap my energy. I'm on Synthroid and Captopril, too.

Do a Google on the Atlanta condo market. A lot of the formerly 300k condos are selling for at least 100k less, or renting for like 950/month. All this for studio or 1/1. I've found a fabulous studio for around 84k and another for 79,900. There are several in the 84k building since it's near one of the major campuses intown. We were saturated before the recession and the kicker is they have to finish the ones that were contracted before the market fell.

Oh yeah, I did the Lantus thing for about a year as a way to transition over to my insulin pump. I don't know what your insurance situation is like, but if it's feasible at some point I HIGHLY recommend you consider moving to the pump. I had a lot of "feeding the insulin" on Lantus because my basal rates are a right little 24-hour roller coaster. Plus, if you exercise or exert yourself in some way more than normal, you can temporarily adjust your basal rate with a pump. With lantus, you're just stuck :-(

I took synthroid for awhile because my old PCP thought I had a "sluggish" thyroid. Thankfully it's ok now. Oh, bless those endocrin glands, eh?

I don't have insurance, and lord knows, you can't get shit if you have a pre-existing condition. I want a pump SO bad, but they're not cheap. A pump would be wonderful. I hate my stupid meds. I mean, they're better than my R and N that my old doc had me on for like 2 years (and I blacked out with driving my sugar was so low; caused a small fender-bender). I have to split my Lantus up because I peak too severely with the full dose. I take 45 morning and night. 35 of Humalog. I need to lose a fuckton of weight, but it's so hard when your insulin makes you just straight up drag.

She has me on it because my thyroid numbers were bad. Oops. And my A1C has gone ZOOM since my godmom has been smothering me. She doesn't understand that I can't eat like a frat boy. Which is her usual portion size. I bought some cookbooks and things and she's going through them now. Hopefully I can move out soon and that will help. She worries about me so much she makes me stress eat, too.

Ugh. I hear ya about the weight thing. It makes me SO MAD when I lose a bit of weight and then get a string of lows and BAM... weight back on.

Y'know, if you're looking for work p/t you might want to consider Starbucks. They give health insurance to even their part-timers. It might be worth the bother of memorizing in what order you list ingredients on orders. Plus, if you run low while on the job it's not like you have to look far to find a sugary drink to down quickly.

It's really hard to lose weight when it's not a pump (which seems to be more consistent). I hate it because I try but it's like "ugh, no." I just want to get active again. I used to be so much better when I worked.

Ooh, and Starbucks is yummy. I drink one of those every month or so. A small frap. They're good if I'm feeling really low energy and I just ate. *ponders* I could handle part-time, I think. I don't really like people, but if insurance is involved it's worth considering. And there are a ton in Atlanta.
