See, I haven't noticed it. But to be fair, I've only watched the episodes in the last three months, so I've been absorbing plot (and what teeny tiny) continunity to figure out the show. But *makes a mental note*
See, I'm a trained draper (Costume Technician), so I note a lot of the costuming stuff. I got 3/4 done with a jacket of my own, then moved and it got lost in the shuffle so I'm going to have to start again. I'm hoping to go to Comicon as Teyla next year ^_^
I have a whole breakdown on her various costumes thusfar, as well as general breakdown on everyone's.
Ah, see. Me? I'm trained...to work in a dog kennel. *grins* So, yeah. I don't notice clothes much. Except that I love watching Project Runaway, to see the clothes they come up with. I mean, I shop in the men's section half the time.
I wanna go to Comicon. I had a friend posting about it, and it looks like fun. Unfortunately it's on the other side of the country, have to stick to Dragon*Con.
Ooh, see. That's useful. I have to track down everything everyone wears. I forget the basic panel colors. Sadly.
If I were still in GA (I lived there all of 3 months before landing a job in DC and moving up here again), I'd totally be going to DragonCon. Kavan Smith is going to be there this year!! I've never made it to D*Con, not in all the years I've lived on the East Coast.
Hence declaring with a year's warning that I damn well am making it to Comicon if it kills me next year. Because I want to go while SGA's still guaranteed to be in production.
*grins* Atlanta born and lived all my life. I've never been, though. This will be a whole new experience. Out with the masses and such. And I knnnnow Kavan will. *smirks* I'll get to see him. Hell or high water. *blinks* Wait, you lived here? State or Atlanta? Cause the state blows. City pretty.
That's the exact reason why I want to go to Comicon. Again with the this is the only show where I've been excited since Buffy. That's 10 years. *pets the pretty shiny show...and the hot people there*
Atlanta. I lived with shrewreader from Feb-June, when I got offered a summer job by artaxastra (Whom I co-mod'd a panel at Con.Txt with).
I'm kind of from all over - Wisconsin, Ohio, Massachussetts, New York, Maryland, Atlanta, etc
Yeah, this is the first fandom I've really been involved with as it was happening since B5. Maybe LOTR, but I actually bowed out of that when it started getting crazy - I had issues with people assuming I was a teeny-bopper Orlando Bloom fan just because I'm an LOTR fan. Is he pretty? Yes. Is he the sole reason I liked LOTR? Not so much.
Actually, if you're ever looking for RL fen in the Atlanta area - kheryn42 just moved down there in May, and shrewreader has lived there a number of years now (Both are in the city proper, both are SGA fans - Kheryn runs the Lorne Index).
*blinks* Con.txt? What's that? But yay for living here. It's...unique. *shakes head* And wow, you're just northern bound aren't you? *grins* I've never lived outside the south, so
( ... )
Oh, if you ever have uniform/costume questions for a fic? Feel free to ask. I should be able to answer just about anything, and I always love geeking out over costuming stuff. I even know what kind of weapons they use for Teyla's Bantos Rods (They're called Escrima, used in Phillipino Arnis & Kali fighting)
Oh, yay! I like that. *nods* Very much. It makes looking so much easier, so I know what to look for and ask. Much of the cool. You know Buffy's "Fire bad. Tree pretty." line? I pretty much get distracted by all the pretty people on the cast. Or the interesting looking ones. And ooh, those are what the sticks are? Nifty. *files that information away too*
I actually have a couple books I picked up on the fighting styles they based Teyla's weapons use off of. And talk about geeky? Shrew just told me that the package I ordered like 3 months ago finally arrived - It's the dance thongs Rachael Luttrell uses in the bare-foot fighting scenes to avoid tearing up her feet on the sets (See icon).
Yeah, so I'm starting my costume prepping a little early. If I can lose the weight, I want to try to have a set of costumes next July - the workout skirt, the standard field uniform (or one of them), and a Chaya Dress (Don't ask, long story). I figure they'll be usable for several years afterwards.
See, I see Rachael doing the fighting thing and I go "Ohhh, pretty! Fight. Kick his ass! Pretty!" Shiny thing attract, and her clothes are just so pretty! *whispers* I never noticed her shows. I assumed she wore them, but again, pretty shiny clothes! I'm so easy. I should just rent myself out by the hour.
Starting early is *good.* Then you can alter when needed. Makes sense to me. That's something my godmom would do (she used to design her ballroom dancing clothes). Chayaa...aw, do you wanna Ascend and be a squiggly Ernie Octopus? *grins* And they will be useable. Plus, you know. If your laundry every gets really dirty and you have nothing left. *mutters* I'd have to lose two me to fit her size though. *grin*
Questions, you'll find I'm just full of 'em!
(Side note: in high school I wanted to make clothes for plus sized teens, but you know, couldn't afford the fees to attend Bauder under Phipps. *grins)
Her undershirt is blue (It's from S2, we've seen it several times).
