I sat down this afternoon and watched
The Cake Eaters. I just sat there and watched. No knitting. No doodling. No fidgeting. Those of you who have ever tried to watch a movie know what I'm getting at. Even at the theatre, I can't just sit and watch. But this movie had me.
The whole time I was trying to figure out whether Kristen Stewart could act, which is unfortunate because my frustration towards her as a person seems to have clouded what was most probably some fantastic work.
It's kinda fartsy, but as far as movies go, it's not shoving the "I'm not mainstream" message down anyone's throat. And as far as plot goes, if you didn't enjoy the likes of
Once or
Sweet Land then this probably isn't for you.
See, I can write in complete sentences! I was beginning to wonder. Some of my notes this semester are disgraceful. Worst yet, I'd guess.
I'm working on getting all my domestic tax notes read out and recorded onto my computer. I downloaded voice recording software first thing this morning and put a solid 2 hours into recording notes. Didn't get a lot done, but now I know what to expect as I go through the motions for each topic. As for sharing... we'll see - with the cold I sound even manlier than usual.
As far as holidays go this last week hasn't been much of a holiday. I'm not sure how I'm going to get through all the work I need to, but I'm still procrastinating anyway. It's always the way, and things always work out in the end.
Part of the procrastination has been changing the layout of this journal. If you're reading this entry from your friends' page you probably haven't noticed the difference yet. If you've come directly here without a feed then I hope you noticed.
The layout is different. It has been changed. Don't go off somewhere else thinking someone else has moved in with their share of the world's rambling. It's probably a bit late in the entry to say that, but it's there. I said it. Consider it fine print. If you didn't read it before you left, it's your own hard luck. Not that you would be reading this if that were the case.
There's going to be a new addition to the family and Baby #1 is about to be upgraded for a newer model. It's been a good 5 years. And I'm sure she's got plenty of incriminating secrets tucked away waiting for the next person to come along so she can share them and no doubt embarrass me. But such is life.
Of course, there will be much more rambles once Baby #1.1 arrives. I'm open to names - anyone have any ideas?
