Poopy Puppy Update
A round of applause goes to the handsome lil' fella that just ran to Newtown Park and back (in the rain) and posed civilly for a series of photos. Well, as civilly as a hyperactive puppy can.
He's been on his best behaviour all day. If he keeps this up, he'll certainly be getting a much-deserved bone tonight.
No longer afraid of cars, mirrors and the television, he's now working on dealing with people. Namely the tradesmen and greasy teens that come stomping through our front door regularly. Though he has formed a bond with the courier, I found them having a lovely bonding session at our gate this morning.
There's still the usual trail of destruction down the hallway and into the living room. Now he knows that if we leave empty toilet rolls on the bathroom floor they're his for the taking. He's never one to turn down a free toy. And he's smart. He never touches the roll on the holder, or the ones still in the bag.
He's tall now. Above my knees when he's standing normally. I guess that's knee height for most people. It takes no effort to welcome us home with a swift jump and a lick on the forehead, paws resting on our shoulders. Not just mine, taller folk too.
Unfortunately, now he has absolutely no trouble reaching the scraps on the bench after dinner and licking the plates clean. The upside, because every situation has one, is that now the dishes get done a lot quicker. And Archie has to go digging through the rubbish bin instead. Is there any rubbish bins designed to keep dogs out?
Zeus's attitude towards Archie no longer burns of loathing, but flirts with mild curiosity and taunting. The cat's not silly, he knows the dog's bigger, but that doesn't stop the ninja pounces and cheeky claws in the bum. I don't know if anyone would be daring enough to say he was trying to play, but I'm sure they'll get there in time.
Right now Archie is sitting to attention at his bowl as he's watching one of lil' bro's mates make a sandwich. He's well behaved this dog, but that doesn't stop him trying to push his luck.
