Winter Solstice
Happy solstice everyone! Welcome to the shortest day of the year, with the most cookies to bake, of course.
We were actually planning to do the whole tree thing this year, put it up on solstice and take it down on 12th Night, but things conspired against us. We looked into a table top live tree, which we found, only to realize that LA Tree Recycling requires trees to be turned in before 12th Night, which obviously won't work. It's because people put up their live trees far too early. After Thanksgiving is way too soon. So, then we thought, okay, we'll go artificial. Maybe not quite as cool as this, due to lack of time, but a tree nonetheless. Unfortunately, fate conspired against us and there's not a table top artificial tree to be had in LA as of yesterday, so no tree for us.
I will console myself with snickerdoodles today and Three Kings Almond Tart on 12th Night and an old Christmas special on Christmas Day, since BBC either won't license, or BBC America and Sci Fi are too stupid to buy, it for the appropriate season. Fine, I'll just order it from Amazon UK in Jan when it comes out. I love the multi-region DVD player.
