The Paranormal Fad || {Personal/Informational}

Lately a new fad has swept the nation. Ghost hunting. Even cartoon network has their own show where they send teenagers to go ghost hunting. This basically seems like a new hype sweeping the nation. I can't tell you how many people I have met that ghost hunt and claim they did it before everyone else did. I only know 3 groups of people personally who TRULY did ghost hunt before the fad began. I know 35+ groups of people who had never even promoted any interest at all in ghost hunting, until the fad began, and ALL claimed they were doing it before the fad.

Ghost hunting has become another thing to exploit, and another thing to envelop peoples minds for a short period of time. People will eventually grow tired of it. Shows will eventually stop getting ratings, and those of us left who actually GIVE A DAMN about the spirits we try to HELP will continue doing what we do.

The biggest problem I have with this fad, is children are going around trying to be ghost hunters, claiming they know how to do everything about it correctly, not caring if the spirit is trying to cross on, not caring if spirits in high profile locations are being terrorized by so many people trying to get them out, throwing around the word demon while depleting it's meaning, and refusing to listen to more experienced ghost hunters who offer good advice.

Let me state that I do not know everything about ghost hunting, NO ONE IN THE WORLD knows everything about ghost hunting. I also do not consider myself an experienced ghost hunter, I consider myself very new to the whole thing. I've only been interested in helping spirits by finding them and attempting to establish communication since 2002. Note that I write this December 30th, 2009. 7 years, to me, is not enough to consider myself "experienced" or, "seasoned". 7 years is a decent start, and it tells me that I may have a future with this if I keep on.

To all you teenagers out there who think you know everything about ghost hunting, who think you are "experienced" because you have been interested in it for a year, and that's 6 months longer than your friends, I hope you study more and learn more, and realize you aren't the great ghost hunting historians you think you are, and if you don't, may you be shown the error of your ways by the spirits you seek to fulfill your selfish, fad-following wants.
