I hate to sound insensitive, but after all the dangerous animals that have come close to killing him; a stingray? That just sucks.

On the other hand: he spent his life doing what he loved, right up until the very second of his death, and since he died almost instantly he was probably still in the middle of enjoying himself.

You know what would have sucked? A lingering death from old age or cancer or something. I think getting killed by crazy wildlife while scuba diving is one of the best endings his story could have had.
