Gahhh I'm back!! And thanks to Ros who has been incredibly sweet and patient and kind my first day was not nearly so stressful or awful as I thought it would be. She helped me move all my crap out of storage yesterday and then we went to watch the new Dorian Gray movie.

....and yeah. The new Dorian Gray should probably be avoided by Oscar Wilde ( Read more... )

WHAT?

I had totally forgotten about this. Brainblock much?

WHAT. OH MY GOD.

*forgets suddenly her rage at remake of Brideshead and the adaptation of Alice in order to be impotently furious at something else*

This is why it's probably a good thing that it doesn't seem to have a US release at the moment. You would absolutely absolutely hate it. Seriously. <.<

ohhhhh I would wouldn't I

*makes a sadface*

I kind of want it like I want the Brideshead remake, just for the frothing rage it would provoke and how delightful it would be to attack it. But with Brideshead, it can be compared to the awesome miniseries, see, and there is nothing championing Dorian.

Yeah....which is a really sad state of affairs. A part of me says I should try watching the 70's version with Helmut Berger, but it looks like it might be awful and it may make me stop loving Berger which would be too tragic. So I think I shall just stay clear of it. XD

There's a 70s version with Helmut Berger? I would want to see that. I saw the BBC version which is not that good but has some good parts (okay, a good part: Basilllll <3) and is overall tolerable (owait! Alan's pretty good too!) and doesn't damage anyone's affection for the film.

There is indeed, but it is a modernised version (which for me already means it rings alarm bells). I haven't seen it though, and I've not seen any other Dorian Gray adaption because they all mostly don't look very good. :S
