Welcome back, kid

Back from Rome.

A good visit, generally speaking (despite the fact that it rained pretty much constantly). I saw the outside of the Colosseum, the Forum, a cat sanctuary, the Spanish Steps, the pyramid in the middle of the city,  Il Piazza di Michael Angelo, a church decorated with the bones of dead monks, lots of gelato shops, the Vatican, a whole bunch of statues, the Pantheon, the foundation of Juno's temple, and lots of other things. Pictures can be viewed here or on Facebook.

Anyway, it was really nice to see Clay and Jaime and to meet some of their friends in Rome. My hostel was spacious and clean and the staff was friendly and the breakfast was delicious (and free!).

The bars were fun--I especially enjoyed one called "From Hell" in Trastevere (very Samson and Delilah) where I had a mojito with way too much simple syrup.

I did not get up early on Easter Sunday to go see the Pope in St. Peter's Square, but I was okay with that. It rained A LOT that morning.

Now I'm back home and happy to be so.
