ah, graduation is upon us!

what a fabulous senior week this has been. i am truly blessed to have such wonderful people in my life. there are those who understand me, those who look out for me, and those who do both. i have learned a lot in the last year, even more in the past two months. i have lost things, people. i have gained wisdom and people. i am leaving here, finally, with the faith and courage to pursue my dreams.

i will not pretend that all of it has been happy. i have yet to reconcile with a most beloved friend who i have known and who has been a part of my life since the first day of school freshman year. i cannot say that this has been easy.

but at last i am empowered. i am empowered by the knowledge that i can make my life whatever i want it to be. that i am beautiful. intelligent. vibrant.

my fondest memory of senior week is running into people i haven't seen in a year, two years, more, and seeing the honest pleasure on their faces when i say hello.

and the formal. seeing everyone for the first and last time in formal dress, dancing our hearts away in what can only be described as possibly the most stunning building i have ever seen.

today does not feel like saturday. there is far too much commotion outside my window; too many people walking in and out, back and forth.

i had the distinct pleasure of meeting most of p.'s extended family last night. i'd already met this parents, brother, older-younger sister. but now i met his grandmother, his aunt, and his little sister. it was very lovely. he has, verily, the cookie-cutter, upper-class american family.
