As my friend Wes would say: "And there it is."
Lewis "Scooter" Libby was found guilty today on four out of five counts against him including perjury and obstruction of justice. This case is one of those "well, we can only get you for lying about it" cases that lets the actual crime -- outing covert agent Valerie Plame -- go unpunished and slapping the hand of the guy who blocked the entire investigation.
This verdict is bittersweet. It's good to see that someone has finally been punished for this atrocity, but at the same time, finding Scooter guilty does adequately punish the audacity of this crime. I also can't help but think that Scooter is a scapegoat, which is completely unfortunate. Another interesting twist could come at the end of President Bush's term should he decide to pardon ol' Scooter boy.
