got tagged by perv for this meme and i was planning on doing it regardless bc i wanted to keep track of how i did this year :') i'm tagging atharaigas and anyone else who wants to give it a shot.

looking back, did you expect to write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted? it feels like i wrote a fuckton more than what my word count and list of stories say, but then i'm also not including the amount of wips still in my gdocs bc i can't be assed to count everything. i feel like i had the potential of being really prolific this year, but a lot of the fics never came to fruition, so. idk. it's still surprising to see the word count that i have right now, though.
what’s your own favorite story of the year? LOL i feel like i literally hated every piece of writing i've done all year bc nothing was fully fulfilled??? but i would still pick the last straw in the restaurant, but i don't mind sharing because it's my baby, y'know? i can't read it w/o getting all 'ugh' over a lot of the choices i made in writing, but i'm still proud of it.
did you take any writing risks this year? I JOINED SO MANY EXCHANGES WTF i actually started off with the sncj_santa one in 2013 but that lead way to deerofdawn which then snowballed into all the other ones i decided to join after. i also co-ran a fic exchange myself which was an entirely different challenge as well. and i pinch-hit for exchanges omg PINCH HITTING IS SO STRESSFUL
i got an exchange and a challenge left and then it's back to plain lurking 4 me.
do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year? to finish what i have left in my gdocs and the fics for the exchanges/challenges and then move on out of the exo fandom!!!!! i think that i've honestly already hit any of the previous writing goals i've had during my stint in exo fandom, which i'm kind of grateful for.
best story of the year? WHEEZE didn't i tell u how much i hated all my fics LOL i think out of overall completeness to what i had in mind in my outlines, it's def the last straw because i hit most of my goals for that fic compared to the rest.
most popular story of the year? again, definitely the last straw, which rly felt like my official debut into the fandom even though i'd written previous fics in the fandom.
story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: I NEVER FINISHED IT but dimsum fic aka a thousand touches of the heart which was supposed to explore kris' cantonese identity and how chanyeol slowly but steadily learns canto through food and gets to know kris even more. IT'S A STORY OF MY HEART, i'm so sad it'll never be and that we'll never see it happen irl bc fucking kris.
most fun story to write: fic writing is never fun????? it's between stupid cupid, stop picking on me and (you are) where the heart is bc a) banter is Fun and b) i like fluff
story with the single sexiest moment: chokes i don't write smut guys i actually had to challenge myself to write a r-rated scene for one of the exchanges bc i literally write nothing but pg things?????? why can't hand-holding be sexy
i wrote actual penetration for listen: there's a hell of a good universe next door, but it's lit the most clinical sex writing ever sry2say
most sweet story: (you are) where the heart is, aka the time i spite-wrote olive krishan fic
"holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you!" story: uh....... wanted: rmate w/ a view????? it's ghost porn, but not really??????? idk man I DON'T WRITE EXPLICIT THINGS
story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: the smoke that roams looking for a home maybe for how i was trying to explore kris' character. i took a lot from how my friends headcanoned him and how i saw him myself and tried to minorly explore the feeling of being burned out and then the lawsuit happened LOLOLOLOL
but also the last straw because i ended up projecting a lot of how i felt into lu han's character and then it sort of became weird bc i ended up connecting with him a lot more than i'd expected
most unintentionally telling story: the smoke that roams and the last straw tbh because i was feeling Majorly Burnt Out while writing the first one and so i really infused a lot of that feeling in that fic and also my whole life is abt exploring the asian american identity which, in the end, the last straw wasn't about, but it still held that feeling there. also there was a lot of pining there which is indicative of how i feel a lot of the times LOL
hardest story to write: you're stuck on me was my first time challenging a genderbend fic and also i really.....don't......like..........chinguline................. so that was especially difficult to really scrounge up the motivation to even actually write for it LOLOLOL
biggest disappointment: /waves at my entire masterlist take your pick????? but honestly, don't be such a sourpuss was a Huge Disappointment for me. i really wanted to write something super fun and good for my own exchange, and i went through like three different drafts, but in the end i couldn't commit to any of them and so i had to write this in the end which was rly horrifically terrible imo.
biggest surprise: writing over 20k for a fic!!!!!! I NEVER EVEN PLANNED TO WRITE THAT MUCH but it just Grew like a damn weed and shit happened idk also i never expected to write for so many exchanges like wtf???? i'm one of the most lethargic writers out there too like being able to write this much is Incredible for me!!!
