The story begins at
Day 1. The short version: I ruptured knee ligaments mid-February and am still shuffling about on crutches (but slightly less slowly and slightly less painfully).
Yesterday morning, ChrisC made my breakfast and pottered off to work. He didn't leave me a flask of tea, and he didn't make me a packed lunch. Instead, I made my own tea and come lunchtime interacted with toaster and microwave to provide myself with food.
Having one hand free is bloody marvellous.
ChrisC had his own plans for the evening, so having checked that I still considered myself competent he went off and enacted them. I cooked my own evening meal. I'd previously done pierce-and-reheat cookery, and even reheat-contents-of-jar -in-pan cookery. Yesterday I did something that could be regarded as actual cooking.
OK, so it was only pasta-and-sauce. But I made the sauce out of things! It still wasn't exactly haute cuisine, since really I just threw the things in the pan
and stirred them until they were hot. But, y'know, I did chopping. And stirring. And stuff.
And then I had a glass of wine with it.
And I put myself to bed.
(Admittedly the time between the wine and the bed were spent sitting on the sofa, and come bedtime I needed both crutches again, but hey. Progress!)
