One a penny, two a penny

As you may (or may not) remember from my Christmas report, it's not a major Christian festival in this house unless it involves a reciprocating saw.

But I was still in Oxford, even my foraging trips rarely extended to Darlington!

You've occasionally been seen in these latitudes during holiday periods - we weren't taking any chances!

A friend of mine was interviewing potential electricians for some job or other (probably an electrician's job now that I think of it) in a university theatre kind of thing. One of the questions was "how would you wire a plug?", to which the most refreshing answer was "I'd open an already-wired plug and see how that had been done".

... Because they've all been filled by bears watching and waiting for The Mother to leave the buns unattended so they can sneak in and steal 'em

If you ever think you see a bear stealing a bun, you'll know it's really someone in a bear suit.

Any real bear worthy of the name would devour the bun where it stood. I've heard it said some of them don't even wash their paws first !

Do you mind if I tell my dad about the pittosporum? He's a botanist and it's exactly this sort of thing that interests him.

Please do - we'd love to know more about it.

Further googling at the weekend suggested there are about a million varieties, so maybe ours is one which is allowed to grow big.
