For parts 1-4 which I regrettably did not get up here in the flurry of activity, please see their original posts at:
http://holycrapitstwins.wordpress.com There’s a song in this year’s play “Into the Woods” called “I Know Things Now.” I Know things now, many terrible things, that I never knew before. Okay, all kidding aside, my wife having a regular deliver rather than a C-Section was pretty cool. I’ll spare you the details, but I will give you the “rest of the story”.
Around 5:00 we were checked and given the all clear for delivery. We were taken to an O.R. just in case things progressed to a C-Section (It never did, which I give my wife major, MAJOR props for). Thanks to the glorious invention of the Epidural, Shannon had a much more pleasant afternoon than it had started off. In the O.R. I was introduced to fifteen of my new best friends. There were seriously people everywhere. Labor itself for Leah, once we got in there took about two hours fifteen minutes. For Emma, it was about an hour and a half.
The rest of the night was a crazy whirlwind of what it should have been…a crazy whirlwind
. I deftly showed off my multitasking skills by both feeding Leah and uploading pictures to Facebook at the same time. It was amazing to see my screen light up like fireworks as I continued the feeding process, as if people had been waiting up just for news. The virtual waiting room was full it seems so we thank everyone for the well wishes and support.
We were both exhausted and were both up every couple of hours to start the cycle again (Eat, play, sleep…which right now is more like eat/sleep) Shannon is still on a clear liquid diet from the magnesium she had to take for this whole process to be sped along. I finally was able to get a few hours of rest in exchange for volunteering to take the entire “day shift” which I’m currently on a break from
. Needless to say, I’m getting a lot of cool on the job training ,and the girls are being very patient with me.
Thank you all again for the well wishes on Facebook, e-mail, and our phones! We’re lucky to have you in our lives. Be prepared for things to get even funnier now that I’ll be posting on the on the job learning and training.
