Good times not being in school. It feels sooooooo gooooooooooooood not to have to worry about homework.
Emily (Dault) has been in Kzoo for the last few days, which has been a pleasant surprise. Yesterday we (Emily, her friends Dan and Aaron, and I) went to South Haven to roam the shore line. We walked for what felt like hours towards what we thought were sand dunes only to find that they weren't so much dunes as hills with no grass. So we went back into town and got delicious ice cream and came home. Good times, felt good to be at the beach (finally!).
Today was eventful. Went thrifting with Em. Bought this suh-weet dress from St. Luke's Episcopal Thrift Store for $2.50 (half off the original price because I'm a student...I feel bad ripping off charity though). It's green and orange and has patched on horses at the bottom. And a super cute belt thing. It fits as though it were made specifically for me...including the length, which NEVER happens. SOO CUUUTE. We wandered around downtown Kzoo for a bit, then got some lunch at the People's Food Co-op. Mmmm, delicious organic foods and juices. Then we went to Big Lots and discovered lots of great cheap things.
While we were eating our sandwiches on a bench, I got a call from the director of the Refugee Development Center in Lansing. For those of you who don't know, I've been trying to score an internship there for this fall. Well, Vince Delgado pretty much made it sound like it's not a matter of if I do or do not intern with them, but what program I work on while I'm there. I'm going in to figure out my "goals" on Friday, August 24 at 10am...for now. He said it's no rush for me to come in before I leave for tour, so that's why we're waiting until I move in at school. I just have to give him a call when I get back to make sure everything still works out. W00T!
After dropping Emily off between spurts of downpour, I went to Target and then out to dinner with Katie, whom I've known since I was 2. We lived next door to each other for about 12 years or so, so it was good times catching up. We spent a good 2 hours at Applebee's, and now I'm home.
I don't really know why I'm updating so extensively, I guess just a great grouping of events has happened recently.
