Five First Dates
It Wasn't A Date
It wasn’t a date.
The restaurant was small and intimate, with soft lighting and low music. Conversation flowed easily, the bright head and the dark bent towards each other, sharing confidences and laughter. They shared the food, knowing each other’s likes and dislikes, tempting each other with morsels from their own plates. They lingered over dessert and coffee, reluctant to end the evening. Finally, when the waiter started hovering around their table, they left. Standing on the sidewalk, they embraced, before slowly, reluctantly, going their separate ways. But only after making plans to meet again.
But it wasn’t a date.
