Big fire in NE Portland
I risked my life to get this shot. It was just after 12am and I'd had a drink and went to bed. I heard siren after siren. I looked out my window to smell smoke and see red in the distance.
I threw on a hoodie and grabbed my girls 3 speed (tipsy) out into the night. I had to ride through two bad neighbourhoods (where people had been thrown off of bikes recently) to get there. I'd also forgotten to put on a bike light - though that probably helped with stealth. I made it through two police lines JUST getting set up. If I would have left 10 min earlier I could have got a few better shots.
I got this photo TWO seconds before the church steeple feel.
