A PSA

Since most of the people on my friends list here are women, there is something I wish to address here with you. This may sound funny coming from a guy, but I also know how things are viewed on womens health issues by the medical community at large.

The subject is Mammograms.

When was your last one? Have you even had your first one? If no to the second question or its been a few years to the first question then I would like to take the opportunity to urge you to get one now.

Breast cancer is an equal opportunity killer and doesn't play favorites. Its not just older women that have to worry about it. And self exams, while great just don't cut it when we think about the early stages. At that point, it can be completely undetectable by this method, and by the time you CAN detect it through self exams it could be too late to save the breast.

I know. Several friends have lost breasts to this disease. I have seen first hand the devastation it has caused mentally, emotionally, and physically to women. Thats not counting the ones that have lost the battle to breast cancer completely.

So I am taking this opportunity to urge you all to get a mammogram done at your earliest convienience.

And you men? If you love your wives, Girlfriends, Significant Others then you too will do this very same thing. Beg, cajole, demand, bribe.... whatever it takes. Get them to have this done. Get it done pne yourselves as well. Men can get Breast Cancer too.

Who knows, you may save their lives.

Women are beautiful. Lets help keep them that way.
