To those of your who suggested a greyhound: That's not an option for me as much as I would *love* to adopt an ex-racer. It would be sooo wonderful, but there are problems I can't deal with. For one, they are runners. Not just runners, but they see any opening as an invitation to escape. I would have to be on constant watch with no hopes of ever training him or her to see the door-situation any differently. =P Also, while some of them *are* placed in homes with small animals it is very risky. I'm not willing to take that risk. It's a matter of my present animals lives and I can't mess with that just because I *would like to have a greyhound*. It's unfortunate because they are awesome dogs and often make really good lazy companions.
My choice is leaning towards a German Shepherd as of now. My research is showing that they just may be the most compatible dogs for me. We'll see..
