To sophyquinn: If you manage to get online I wanted you to know that I tried calling, but when they went to transfer me to someone who could give me your room it hung up. Maybe it's too late. I'll try tomorrow during the day. ::hugs ( Read more... )

I have a yorkie and she's awesome. Unless you're going to rent a house, I wouldn't get a big dog. The little dogs like Yorkies enjoy being indoors and smaller dog = smaller poops. IMHO, pit bulls are dangerous no matter what people say about "it's training" or "they're one-person dogs". Wolves aren't tame and have a primordial killer instinct, so do pit bulls. Just my .02 cents.

My Yorkie was the *worst* inside dog I've ever had. Lol.. =D He was the most hyper and nutty. Strangely enough, my Jindos have been the best. They get the same bad rep as pits in the "dog world". They are also fighting dogs and have that same strong-willed personality. I worry about their growing popularity and have even heard people are now breeding them *with* pit bulls. I am horrified. The thing is, the German Shepherd (for one, as there are many others) ranks far higher on the number of attacks in the US than the Pit Bull. Leave it to the media to make people think otherwise, though. =\

Really? Our Yorkie (actually a Silky - mix of Yorkie Terrier and Austrailian Terrier) is great indoors, but she does love to go outside and run...with the right training, she could have been one of those obstacle course dogs, and she's a barker, but it's cute because she does it in a protective way ... like she could do anything to the big rotweiler outside. We got her at a pet store, yes bad I know, but she was there for so long we figured she wasn't going to get bought and might end up someplace bad ( ... )

Yeah... he was a crazy dog, but sooo cute and a total clown. Very smart too. I, of course, don't agree with pet store buying but sometimes you just find the right animal in the wrong place. I don't think it's wrong to do it in that case. =)

Border terriers are awesome dogs. It's so wonderful to hear of a successful adoption of a mistreated animal. <333 I had no idea the Pasadena shelter had that on their website. What a damn good idea! I will certainly check it out ( ... )

Oh yeah, and I love taking dogs to dog parks, walking them, etc... I don't mind having an active dog as long as they are calmer indoors. The Pit Bull is a very good option for that. They are recommended for apartment living. My number one choice, though, is an English Mastiff *but* they have so many health problems and tend not to live awfully long. They are supposed to be fantastic apartment dogs even though they are huge. Since I'd be going to a rescue and the dogs there tend to already be a few years old.. well, you get the picture.

I *do* worry about the Pits in this area, though. The breeding is so awful around here and when you go to a rescue you have *no* idea what happened to them before they got there. =\ I really don't want to go outside of the adoption/rescue world because it's the *right* thing to do.. but I also don't want an unpredictable dog. Ugh...

Mastiffs are rad. I had a friend with 3 of them and they were gorgeous, albeit HUGE ass dogs. They also seemed to shed like crazy since the whole house was covered in dog hair.

At the Pasadena Human Society, you can't adopt Pit Bulls ... any of them. When they get them, thy hold them for an owner to claim them, but they don't allow new adoptions. Good move in my book.

The rescue/pound idea is great, you can find what you want if they pound uses a notification Web site, you just have to wait until one comes in. Most of the dogs we've seen at the Pasadena Humane Society seem adoptable, if they aren't, they put them in a quarantine area with the other dangerous dogs and Pit Bulls, and you can't adopt them.

Oh wow... Three??? That'd be a full house. It'd be like living with three small horses. =D They are sooo damn cool, though, and also recommended for apartment living. <333 for Mastiffs.

May not be a bad idea around here. Like I said, Southern CA Pit Bulls have not been bred well *at all* and I'd be concerned about adopting one that most likely came from neglect. It's sad, but I don't want my cat or my best friend dead. =\
