It had been ten days since Halloween and in those ten days, the bruises had faded. The nightmares, however, had not faded with the bruises. In fact, they'd gotten somewhat worse, to the point that she had actually begun drinking a soothing tea at night to help her sleep. While it did control the dreams enough that she was able to get a few hours of sleep most nights, on others it didn't assist at all. For example, tonight. All the things in her life (and there were many) that could be used as nightmare material seemed to have flashed vividly through her mind in quick, nauseating succession, and finally she sat up in a cold sweat, breathing hard.
On the spur of the moment, she got out of bed rather than rolling over and attempting to go back to sleep. She put sandals and a coat on, then left the hut and walked quickly towards Marcus' hut, followed by Rollo, who got up from his spot at the base of the treehouse. He appeared to think she needed guarding, and honestly, she wasn't going to object, not tonight.
When she reached the small clearing that contained Marcus' hut, she took a deep and steadying breath, then knocked. She knew she was arriving unannounced in the middle of the night, and she likely wouldn't have done this if she'd had a bit more sleep, but she hadn't and she was. Hopefully he wouldn't be too upset with her.
