“Tis the Season”

So this weekend was full of holiday cheer. Saturday I celebrated the winter solstice with my good friends D&J. It was suppose to be for their meetup group, but since no one really RSVP’d for it they just cancelled and it was the 3 of us (Fae was working). We went out to dinner then came back to their house and did a working ritual. It was rather nice since I’ve been lacking in my spiritual activities and really wanted to do a ritual just so I can get my groove back.

I thought the ritual was intense and powerful and when we were done I felt such relief wash over me that I got a little teary eyed. It was as if a huge weight has been lifted and I could breathe again. Obviously I needed it for it to affect me like that in front of others. I was very glad I was able to share it with them. We sat there and talked about things while our candles burned and finally when it hit about 1am I said my goodbyes and went home.

Sunday was all about the cookies! My sister and I had decided we wanted to make cookies since we haven’t done it in ages and no one else in the family was taking care of them this year we took it upon ourselves to handle the task. With our great grandmother’s recipe in hand we went to work. Oh lordy it was a lot of work. We were at it all day (there is photo evidence) and ended up making 7 batches of cookies that filled 16 containers. We made so much that we had to go out and buy more containers as we had run out.

Once we had everything boxed up and the kitchen cleaned we delivered a majority of them to my parent’s house so they can be given out on Christmas. My mom was proud with what we did saying the cookies were just as if she would have done them herself. Since I mixed the dough while my sister rolled them out, I took it as a complement. She said she wants to do them next year with us as she misses being a part of it. Looking forward to that. ^_^
