So maybe it's not tuberculosis. I guess that's a good sign.
Anyway, today while at work, I did some research pertaining to the rest of my life. Well, as most people know, I have two loves: funerals and politics. Ideally, I would love a career that involves both and also pays a good deal--I'm not selfless enough to not want to make a shitload of money. So basically, The Director Magazine has been doing a big push for the November election, trying to get funeral workers involved in issues that pertain to the industry. For that reason, several major articles have been published in the magazine about the political side of mortuary science.
One such article focused on the importance of funeral directors actively participating in politics, especially as elected officials. Apparently the NFDA employs two full-time funeral directors in Washington, D.C. with the function of lobbying for the funeral industry. There are also members of Congress who are licensed as funeral directors.
So in short, I think my calling may be apparent. I should become a funeral director and then get political in the profession and take my place in politics. And when I break it down into steps--local government, lobbying, national government, president--it all seems so much more achieveable. Now I have something to work for and I feel better about myself.
On a side note, my irises are pregnant. Looks like I should have babies in the spring if I nurture the seed pods correctly.
