The sky was all purple. There were people running everywhere.

Somehow yesterday and today managed to be two of the best days I've ever experienced. Yesterday I feel my roommate and I have bonded even further, even if it was over petty theft. After spending a wonderful weekend with Ellen, after a lovely game of Word Play Ball Bearing, after surfing the El, after our sign hanging ceremony, I was afraid the day could only get worse.

But it didn't.

Leap Day 2004 will go down in history as one of my favorite days ever. From actually getting stuff done (my middle age interview) to catching up with Jeff and having a hot cocoa party, things just came together for me. And my day was only made better by Paul and Stank and our amazing game of Global Combat (online Risk).

Today has also been pretty damn spectacular. I was skeptical after this morning's 7:45 fire alarm wake-up call, but it redeemed itself. I spent an amusing hour with Martina Bode doing calculus, then Tanvi and I took a walk to Evanston for Ben and Jerry's to celebrate the 60 degree day. I was, as always, shocked at the number of people I knew as they passed us--not just recognizing faces, but knew enough to smile, wave, or say hi. On our way home we decided to explore campus where we found an adorable grotto and the Shakespeare Gardens.

I do believe the gardens could become one of my favorite places on campus next to the Lakefill. It's a secluded little egg shaped park between Tech and the Seminary. Every plant in the garden is something mentioned in one of Shakespeare's works. I imagine in the spring it will be awash with color, and the bushes and trees will make it a cozy little heaven.

Walking back to Sarge, Tanvi and I noticed droplets of rain. The sky had been threatening for our walk back from the city, but by this point it really looked nasty. We ducked into Tech where we did a little more exploring. There are some creepy parts to that building, let me tell you.

When we got back to our room, the sky opened up and all the energy that sizzled in the air during our walk just lashed out. The perfect end to a perfect walk: a loud, powerful thunderstorm. Spring is coming.
