So ... this is how the weekend went ...
What The Velyr Had Planned
Drop things at hotel, take MARTA downtown
Visit High Museum of Art
Lunch
Coca Cola Museum & Underground Atlanta
Dinner
Back to hotel for the night
Breakfast & maybe quick stop downtown
This nifty plot was thwarted by 80 year-old Mum and her 70 year-old friend, who had a different idea of "a weekend in Atlanta."
How The Weekend Actually Went
"Wait, why don't we go see the new aquarium?"
Leave late & decide to stop at Hardee's for breakfast
Finally get to hotel after lunch
Check online and discover aquarium tickets sell out two-three days in advance
Finally decide to visit Fernbank Natural History Museum
Drop things at hotel, take MARTA downtown
Wait 40 minutes for bus that goes by Fernbank
Exit bus, walk 2 blocks to museum, which closes in 90 minutes (by this time)
See three exhibits in museum
Go to IMAX theatre
Decide to take taxi back to hotel
Decide to order take-out since everyone is tired
Breakfast at hotel & back to SC
(insert sound of velyr thumping head against dashboard of car)
Sunday night was better ... my sister did the Union County "God & Country" singing-thing again ... it's 12 different church choirs (they send their best singers) doing patriotic and religious songs for the 4th. My sister has a nice voice, and had a good solo, plus a guy we knew from school had a solo as well, and he's got a good voice too. We got to meet The Boyfriend's mom and assorted friends/relatives, which was nice.
Work's busy, as it's the end of the month and a holiday week. The next pharmacy down from us got robbed Thursday night, but the manager's OK (except for the shock). Will try to get details tonight.
