I don't think I have an icon appropriate for my feelings this week.
I hope I need not specify which candidate I voted for. I am having a very hard time realizing that there is so much hatred and racism and bigotry in my country that we would overwhelmingly vote in Cheeto Jesus for another term. It's hard looking at your friends and neighbors and colleagues and wondering about their motives now. Are they Nazis or just terribly gullible somehow? Not that it matters, as they voted him in either way.
I think a lot of his cultists are going to finally be very surprised at how this plays out. I have been encouraging everyone to read their playbook, Project 2025 or Agenda 47 or whatever else they have been calling it. The cultists all responded resoundingly "Conspiracy Plot" and just kept merrily following the hatred. It will be different when it's their benefits being cut and their taxes increasing and them paying for these damned tariffs. Some of the things they're planning are beyond ridiculous, like cutting the freaking weather bureau for god's sake. How on Earth is anyone going to know when there is a natural disaster approaching so they can evacuate the area? Can you imagine the loss of life once we no longer have an early warning system in place?
I know that the rational people of America are going to fight back as hard as we can, but in the end, the hatred has won this round. People just want to blame someone for their troubles, and they want that person to be punished somehow. The Nazi/Fascist party is exactly what they wanted and they got it. Our problem will be rooting out the secret Nazis among us during the next four years, so we know who to trust and who is the real enemy within.
Whatever happens, we're going to have a lot of rebuilding in four years. If we can even rebound from this.
