berealexander and I have been trying to think of ways to bring the online critique group back to life -- and not some shuffling, zombie life either, but actual energetic participation and camaraderie. The way the group used to be, when we first started it years ago, when we had online chats and real life meetings -- we had members who flew over from England and from Canada just to get a chance to see each other in real life!

We have come to the conclusion that we need an infusion of new blood. Trot over to t_w_w_s and see if it's the sort of thing you'd be interested in. We don't bite when we critique, we accept any sort of writing (yes, that most definitely includes slash, no matter how graphic), and we do offer up some sort of submission at least every two weeks. We used to send out submissions and critiques every week, but we've been trying the submission one week with the critique the next, giving people a short break from having to read and critique every single week. We have Theme Weeks, where everyone sends in something on the same topic, and Free-Writing Weeks, where anyone and everyone is allowed to send in whatever they want (fiction or nonfiction, poetry, rambling letters, whatever!).

All you have to do to join is send a short sample of your work to DKSYD @ aol.com. This will get passed around among the officers and get a mini-critique so we can decide whether to admit you to the group. Hint: we haven't turned anyone down yet. (We did ask one member to leave once upon a time, but she was really creepy and started emailing members with adverts for her editing services, plus she was doing the online stalking thing to some people.)

We'd love to have any (or all) of you join us. Many of our members have gone from a critique to publication!

mind the gap, even when i'm wrong i'm right, but wait ... there's more!, we're all mad here, crivens!, original of the species
