I don't blame my car for not going anywhere.

Well, winter finally came to Winnipeg. Yesterday, it was -38C with the windchill factor. And let me tell you, in Winnipeg nothing matters except the windchill. It was -40C overnight and it's currently sitting at -37C without the wind. Yikes.

For those of you who don't live in arctic conditions you may not know that sometimes we have to plug in our cars so that our block heaters keep the engine from freezing up or something. I'm not a mechanic so I don't know what block heaters really do. Anyway, I forgot to do it last night as this is the first time this winter that the cold has been an issue.

As I was plugging it in early this morning I realized how this related to the electric car debate. You know how whenever someone is talking about electric cars on tv or something, there's always someone else on the program saying, "i don't want to plug in my car every night" regardless if they need to be plugged in or not. Well, as it turns out, neither do I. But I do it so that it works. Too bad the same philosophy couldn't be passed along to the Hummer drivers.

However, I'm almost certain that everyone who has a Hummer is driving around town right now showing off while I whittling the time away on my lj until my car defrosts.

It does not look good.
