improv gold

Had our Comedy Pigs organizational meeting at Tad's Wednesday night. (Sidenote, found out he used to play on a softball team with Mick Napier in Chicago & was at the opening of the very first ever Annoyance Theatre show.....kickass!) We discussed scheduling (3 of us - Me, Reiner, and Tad) are in 3 Penny as well, so I think we only have Thursday nights off thru May....EEK!) And then we watched some Kids in the Hall sketches just to talk about why they bring in the funny. It was all good. I'm quite in the mood to write now.

So we have to write a blackout sketch for next week's meeting. I thought of mine that night. It's mundo cliche, but it's cute I think:

Small tables set up like a restaurant. Pilgrims are sitting at all of them eating what would be the Thanksgiving meal. There's a pilgrim hostess at a podium with a book. A family of native americans walks in. The hostess looks up and says, "I'm sorry...do you have reservations?" Blackout.

Eh.....we shall see :-)

Last night Paula, Keith, Adam & I went to the Bentz St Sports Bar to catch their comedy night and to scout the location for a possible improv venue. Had such a great time, and the commedians were pretty funny. Great audience too if I do say so myself! So we talked to the guy that books acts and he was like, "Yes. We want you. Come!" I think my NJIT Pub experience will come in pretty handy in planning a show/set for that place. So, much groovyness there :)

Other than that, we got a new member in Basement Nation - TJ who ran the murder mystery trains that Keith, P, James and I were on. And we have 4 shows coming up with The Pigs (mo funny = mo money!) And 3 Penny rehearsals start on Tuesday. Crazy days lay ahEad.....finally!!
