yesterday was totally the best day i have had in a very long time. it wasnt even one of those days i was really gearing up for or expecting awesome from it just happened.
i had to be at work at 9am and i was on the bar all day which means 8 hours of 10 min interaction that consist of 3 conversations, your phone needs to be restored, your phone need to be replaced, you broke/got that shit wet. that will be 200 dollars.... i like it cause i just fall into the flow of the bar and the day goes quickly. Only yesterday the cue was only half booked and NO ONE showed up. So i spent most my morning shooting the shit with bj.
turns out he went to the Post Secret Gallery opening on KSUs campus the day before. He walked in and saw Noah with a girl that he described as dumb and skanky. As soon as Noah saw BJ he ran to the other side of the gallery. When BJ made it to the back side of the gallery the back wall was painted with magnetic paint and they had paper for you to make your own Post Secret. Well BJ wrote on it, "My best friend's ex is here, only wish he knew exactly how terrible he is and how much pain he caused." He walked away and turned around just in time to watch Noah walk over and read it from across the gallery. This made me laugh for most of the day.
The iphones have liquid submersion indicators in them, one in the head phone jack and one in the dock. This very patient and rather cool woman came in with a phone with no power- both LSIs were tripped off.... they turn red when they have gotten wet. Well i got to pull out the sim tray and its stuck. When I finally get it out its got white stuff on it... it smells strongly of acrylic paint. I take the phone back to open it... sometimes power issues can be resolved by reseating some cables... i open the phone to find where someone tried to PAINT THE RED LIQUID SUBMERSION INDICATOR. Only I guess the paint was too thin and it just dripped straight into the phone. There was also still water inside the phone. The woman was really confused by the whole thing till i showed her the pictures... her response was someones in trouble. Ive never seen anyone try that before and i am genuinely surprised about that. But it was one of those moments at work that totally escaped from the norm and the lady who owned the phone's reaction was what the fuck, really?! not your a liar. It was refreshing and really funny.
Then i had a meeting with my store manager today. Now i assumed this was about the Genius job... my training is on the schedule but no one would officially say anything. So it was this big stressful game of when. Well i found out just before this was not a meeting but an interview. and i am unreasonably TERRIFIED of my boss... and the interview was suppose to be an hour. I had about 10 min to freak out before going into the meeting. It went super well, beyond anything I could imagine. and i finally got the official offer to become a Genius!!!! I start Feb. 11th!!! I am so thrilled about it!!! And i talked to him about the move and my plans for that and how I want to transfer with Apple. And he was very supportive and said he would help in everyway he could. He was even okay with it being 6 months from now. I also put in my last day which will be Aug. 5th!!! for when i move. I did the math on my vacation time and I will have 3 weeks of paid vacation time saved up so i will have a paycheck during the whole move. Everything is falling perfectly into place. I am calling my dad about getting my plane ticket tonight, he has frequent flyer miles that will expire so i can use them- hence getting the ticket so early.
Then getting off work jack and i randomly went to get a beer. I got a free refill because the waiter walked up just in time to see me discover a seed stuck to the bottom of the inside of the class. Normally i wouldnt care and had she not been standing right there i wouldnt have cared. Jack gushed about his girl- hes been head over heels for her for months and he's thinking he might propose by the end of this year. She inspires the best in him, hes finishing school and learning a ton of new things all because she inspires him, it is so awesome to see them together. We also talked about dorky computer stuff that makes me super happy.
I left there and called ryan to come over and emilie and i went out to get drinks and dinner. I asked the cute dude at the liqueur store for some suggestions and we got to talking. We had the exact same tastes in alcohol, hes from seattle and loves portland, we talked about camping and where to go on the road trip. Really cool guy. Gave me his number which made me feel more awesome than i would have thought- it was a really nice ego boost and its refreshing to meet someone not at work that i share interests with.
From there we went to publix where kettle chips and avocados were on sale for the win.
Back to my place where we played with Banzai, drank and played Mario.
And the new Yeasayer album is amazing
It was just a great day.
