I finished a couple more pieces for the apocalypse fashion piece for the Brewery show:
a necklace made of dismantled rosaries, chains, and random objects. (click on the image to go to my flickr page where there are some close ups)
I knit a very long piece of lace (over 3 feet of lace) out of Rowan Big Wool. I then felted it in the washing machine and boiled it with tea (it was white with grey flecks originally). Then I moulded and cut in into shape (inspired by
pintuck's lovely crocheted neckpieces). This picture shows the two collars one over the other:
another picture of the "long" collar worn another way:
Yesterday,
burryman and I went to the V&A to see the 60's fashion exhibit.
But first, we went to Daquis for lunch.
What is
burryman looking for in my borscht?
Could it be the sexy mushroom ravioli?
Vulvamorphia!
At the V&A I went a little pop-print and boy-crazy.
Miniature of a boy.
miniature of a (be-still-my-heart) man.
Another lovely man. This one, lucky for me, is flesh and blood.
Me in the ironwork hall at the V&A-- one of my favorite rooms there:
We went to the 60's fashion exhibit. I was a little disappointed. Stuff was poorly lit, and there wasn't a lot. But still, I have some small hope that the stiff, modernist tailoring will be all over the high street come fall, dispelling the boho shlupp.
I want this Mary Quant vinyl caftan so bad it hurts:
Paper dresses:
Another paper dress. Drool (but of course, don't drool on the dress!) :
I was digging on the prints room this time, especially Virgil Marti's "Bully" wallpaper:
We then went to the British Museum because I had this burning desire to show
burryman the Enlightenment hall, where I spent many an afternoon when I first moved here.
I will leave you with this little object full of existential suffering-- a mummified, hoax "mermaid"--
